yes. Yes! YES!!! YAAASSSS!!!! We’re going to talk about enthusiastic consent! We’ll talk about all of the challenging communication pitfalls when discussing relationships, sex, intimacy, and expectations. We’re going to also address body autonomy both in our personal relationships and also with seeking health care and what challenges we face with authentic consent within medical settings. These are going to be some really great skills to pick up that you won’t want to miss. We’ve got a really great panel as well! Tuesday Feral will be on the panel again and they are ALWAYS a crowd favorite! Elizabeth McCorvey will also be back on stage (you might remember her from the Race and Sexuality panel). Also, we’ll have Allister Styan of Planned Parenthood and Western North Carolina Community Health Services (affectionally knowns as WNCCHS). If you’re a medical or mental health provider, this one might have you think about what true consent might look like in an office setting with your clients/patients and how we can do better in a system that isn’t always optimal.
Panelists: Tuesday Feral, LPC, NCC, Allister Styan, Healthcare Coordinator at Planned Parenthood, and Elizabeth McCorvey, LSCW
Host: Heather Edwards, pelvic PT, Sexuality Counselor and Educator, Founder of Vino & Vulvas
Date: Monday, June 24 7-9pm (doors open at 6:30)
